Red Rocks Canyon Open Space

Red Rock Canyon Open Space is a 789-acre city park in Colorado Springs. The park consists of a series of parallel ridges (called “hogbacks”) and eroded canyons, a continuation of the same sandstone rocks of the Fountain Formation that make up Garden of the Gods a few miles to the north.

Red Rock Canyon is open from dawn until dusk. Dogs, bicycles, and horses are allowed on most trails. The Upper and Lower Dog Loops are off-leash areas, and there is a free-ride bike park at the east end of the first parking lot. Many of the trails make for good cross-country skiing on snowy occasions.

About eighty technical climbing routes have been established at Red Rocks. Climbers must be registered through the Garden of the Gods visitor center.

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods Park is a registered National Natural Landmark. Imagine dramatic views, 300′ towering sandstone rock formations against a backdrop of snow-capped Pikes Peak and brilliant blue skies. This world-class Visitor & Nature Center and museum is the most visited attraction in the region with all new interactive exhibits.
